How to choose a free standing AC unit? My husband and I live in northern Arizona, so while it's not getting into the 100s regularly in the summer, it rarely drops below 90 degrees during the day (70/80 at night) from about May trough the end of September. Our 500sq ft apartment is made of some sort of brick that just holds in heat, so it doesn't get below the high 90s inside day or night for 5 straight months (we have a indoor thermometer). The complex was built in the 1960s and has no ac, and the windows won't fit one of the window ac units. Fans and leaving the windows open dont help either. .It's miserable all summer long, and after 2 summers of living in an oven, we want to get a little free standing ac unit. Were looking into ones in the $200-$300 range to use in our bedroom to keep it cooler at night. I notice looking online, different units have different specs, and am wondering how to choose the most efficient one for cooling a small space?
