French Doors?
i am thinking of having french doors installed. anyone know how much of a platform/decking i need to have to walk out on? i think its 1 1/2 lengths of the door. unsure though. im in scotland so would need to comply with scottish regulations.

I'm not sure that there is a building regulation on this. Ours open out to gravel!!

Regulations may specify a step being necessary but unless it's a handicap access issue you can make you deck to your comfort or appearance need. easiest and cheapest to size according to fit with material sizes.

check with your local building dept. Codes vary.

Have a look on the government website . All the building regs are there, and I think you'll have to look under sections related to disabled access and fire exits strangely enough! Good luck

for a disabled access point the regs are 1.2mtrs outside a fire exit.so if you come 1.2mtrs out you will be well covered by regs,on the width just pass the same as from were the door opens to the end of the 1.2.not knowing door widths if they are 762 wide deduct that from 1.2 then pass either-side 438mm. 762 is a 2'6" inch door width which is a standard size.
