What sound does a front wheel bearing make when it needs replaced?
I have a 1995 Dodge Avenger; while driving it as of late it sounds like a rubbing noise (not metal on metal) on the front right wheel. Could the front bearing be going out? Any help is appreciated!

it makes a squealing sound yes it could be the wheel bearing going out

Say What?
Usually makes a heavy creaking noise, but it is possible. I would be more inclined to think brake pads . . . Grab the top of the tire and push in and out, if the bearing is bad, there should be some wobbling and you should be able to hear it.

Yes, it is possible your wheel bearing is going out. A bad bearing usually makes a growling noise. If it's broken it will click or clack as your car moves. I have found cardboard boxes stuck in wheel wells as well as rags, wire, rope and other odd things. If you are mechanically inclined, you may want to check it out yourself. Jack up your car and support it. Then remove the wheel/tire assembly. Look for samething that should not be there. If you don't find anything, put the tire back on. Grab the tire at the top and bottom and move the tire back and forth, if there is any play (looseness) the wheel bearing could be bad. If you are not mechanical, have someone check it out. A bad wheel bearing could be dangerous. Don't drive your car any more than you absolutely have to, until you know for sure what it is.
