yes . i am a pharmacy tech and in school for pharmacology, in law they have to be the same strength and advantage as performance .

Eh, its close. But Im going to be REALLY honest here. I used to be a pill addict and generic and regular ones made a HUGE difference. But taking them as prescribed it seems to be about the same.

Generic drugs are technically the same as the brand name, in that they have the same active ingredient in the same amount. BUT... If you take a drug regularly, and it is important that you keep the same blood level of drug (drugs for seizures, digoxin, etc), then you should not switch brands. If you started on the generic, stay on the generic. If you started on the brand name, stay on the brand hame. FDA requires that generic prescription drugs be tested to make sure the same amount of drug actually gets into your system at the same rate as the brand name. FDA will approve a generic if it doesn't have the same therapeutic equivalence, but you won't know unless you check. If you want to look up a particular generic, check the FDA "Orange Book" at the link. It codes every generic drug on therapeutic equivalence to the "innovator" drug. There is an explanation of what the codes mean at the second link.
