Today's Discussion

Has anyone noticed a metal irony taste in the Gerber baby foods?
I been noticing in the jars of stage 1 and plastic container w/ lid 2nd stage foods have had this same taste. I always slightly taste my child's baby food, I definitely wouldn't put anything in him that I thought was horrible lol. Thanks for taking the time to answer my question...if it continues I'm either contacting Gerber or switching brands.

Ive never trusted baby foods , and after they found beatles in the baby formula , Ive always made my kids soft foods myself , I bought a food processor and would buy fresh green beans, carrots, etc . and would make it myself , Its also alot cheaper then the baby foods you buy over the counter.

Buy only the ones in the plastic container, or switch to a different brand, such as parents choice or Beech Nut.

I personally don't trust gerber anymore myself. I had a few different problems with their foods, mainly the toddler foods. I actually found a rather large piece of plastic in a chicken and stars container one time and when I called they didn't believe me. They kept asking if I was sure it was plastic and when I told them I was sure because I couldn't bite though it myself (I wanted to be completely sure what it was) they gave me the standard everything goes through quality checks speech. Then they asked to keep the piece of plastic they would like to send it to a lab to be sure....they never sent me any info on where to send it or anything. It took me calling back three different times then finally when I spoke to a superviser she told me they never put through the right paperwork! Needless to say I never got paperwork to send the plastic to a lab and they just tryed to make me happy with coupons. I didn't want free stuff...I wanted to know I can trust what I am feeding my child!

I agree with Joe. I never really trusted jarred baby food unless it was organic. I made the majority of my children's food. It's so easy, and you know exactly what goes in your baby's tummy. I personally would not feed it to your child if it didn't taste right to you. Call the company and complain. They will ask you for the info on the jar and most likely send you out some replacement coupons. If you're going to buy jarred baby food I would highly recommend Earth's Best.

I havent ever tasted that in my daughters food. I always lick my finger when it gets on it and most of the time its a decent taste. My daughter has started to switch more to table foods and such, so we dont give her much anymore.. If you think something is wrong with the food, dont feed him the food anymore. Either call gerber and see if there was a recall or look on line...Or maybe its you that tastes it and know one else?? I hear parent choice and beech nut are good brands too. I only have wonderful things to say about gerber!
