Grant money is money given away or dispersed by governments, corporations, foundations, and trusts to individuals of all ages and businesses or organizations of any size that meet the criteria specified in the "Grant Writing" which as an application or proposal that is issued by the "grant maker". Literally billions of tax free dollars are given away on annual basis to those who qualify. These grants are not "loans", therefore, the money is interest free and never has to be repaid. In the United States, anyone who is a U.S. citizen and tax payer is eligible to apply and receive this money.

There are numerous types of grants available including those for personal needs that allow low income families to purchase a new home, pay their mortgage, make home repairs, pay their utility bills, buy groceries, consolidate their debt, cover medical expenses, and child care including clothing, music and art lessons. Grants for businesses include start up expenses or expansion costs. , Educational grants are available for college, preschool, elementary school, older women and men who want to further their education, and technical schools. Over six million individuals receive free college tuition on an annual basis.

It is estimated that over twenty five thousand grant programs are available today through private foundations and government agencies. These programs are typically not advertised and, therefore, many individuals are unaware of there existence which results in many of these grants remaining unclaimed. The key to finding and obtaining these grants is through extensive research or various lists that are provided directly through the organization that holds the grant, and knowing how to properly fill out the grant request forms. grant money?
I was wondering if anyone knows of any grant money that a first time college student whos high school grades where only average and is 21. I graduated in 04 and now trying to go to school and I have spent hours looking for scholarships and can't seem to come up with anything. I have taken out loans for now but if I can find some grants it would make it easier to just go to school and not worry about having to work and go to school. I have lloked at fastweb and site like that I just need to know of grants and there web site not search sites.

It may be hard to get scholarships if you haven't been in school for a little while but you should definately try FASFA-federal aid. These are grants, not scholarships. Go to your schools financial aid office or registrars office and see if you meet the standards. Because you are still 21 you will not be considered dependent (unless you are married or have children) and will be a dependent of your parents or guardians. Once you reach 24 you will be self dependent and it is much easier to get aid. My parents died when I was in high school so I have always recieved a little aid, it's usually just enough to pay for classes and I come up with my book money ($500 a semester). I have searched the web for scholarships for myself but after several years I still haven't found an appropriate website, only sites that want to sell scholarship books. Don't get suckered...just see your financial aid or registrar administrator.
