cross ur fingers and hope u get the server position. sometimes hostess get "tipped out" but if you are serving the food and alcohol you will make so much more money. the important thing is to know the menu as best you can so you can "upsell". the more the customer bill = bigger tips for you. i hope you have your foodsafe and serving it right certificates to be working in BC
