Today's Discussion

Should I use a plastic anchor to mount a hanging wine rack on the wall?
The wine rack has a mount with two screw holes, and then there are like three loopy metal pieces that hang off it with room for six wine bottles through the loops. My walls are plaster. I was planning on drilling a hole directly into the wall stud and using plastic expansion anchors. Will this work, or is there a better way? I've heard conflicting reports. I also bought some toggle bolts but it seems like a better idea to go directly into the stud. Do I even need anchors if screwing into the stud? Thanks!

I would toggle bolts.

You don't need anchors if you are sure you are hitting the studs.

mrfixit
if hitting the studs no anchors needed, if not use the toggle bolts, plastic anchors suck.

The best thing is to screw straight into the stud otherwise you may lose your wine. You don't need an anchor if you do that, just ordinary wood screws at least two inches long

Wall anchors won't work in the studs.
