Where can I buy 'manly' latch hook rug kits?
My little brother (16) got a couple latch hook rug kits for Christmas, but is bummed that he can't seem to find many 'manly' patterns, he wants to do WWII planes in particular. What I want to know is where I can buy those for him.

I don't know how many "manly" kits you are going to find. They may exist, and if they do the internet is probably going to be the best place to start searching. On the bright side, you can make your own latch hook patterns! The canvas can be purchased online or in some craft stores. Making the pattern is as easy as drawing the design you want on graph paper and transferring it to the canvas. There are tutorials for this online. There are also programs that are designed for creating knit or crochet patterns for images from photos. You could use one of these to turn your photo into squares that you could then graph out and latch hook instead. Making the pattern and choosing the yarn colors will take up plenty of time to keep your brother occupied and give him even more control over what he is making. If your brother has an interest in latch hooking, he might want to take up something like knitting or crochet as well. Both of these crafts can be used to make even more useful items than the average latch hook kit is going to produce. Knit or crochet will allow him to make accessories he can wear, clothes, toys, and decorative items.
