L Shaped Computer Desks for the Home Office

l shaped computer desks

If you have a home office, you may benefit from incorporating one of the many models of L shaped computer desks offered on the market today. These desks typically line up against one wall and progress to the wall beside it.

They are sort of a wrap around desk that allows the individual using it to have a lot of space. In order to optimize the use of this type of desk, it is important that you measure the space that you have in the room that you will be using. You should measure the space on both walls and the amount of room that you have for the width of the desk.

Once you determine the size that you will need for your home office, you must consider the basic function of the desk. Will you use it to accommodate a computer? Will you place books on the shelves? Will you need to have space for files? Will you be placing a printer on the product?

You will need to consider all of these factors as it will allow you to choose the most appropriate model for your needs. If you are interested in L shaped computer desks, check out Amazon.Com today for the best deals.

Today's Discussion

What type of wood should I use for a STRONG L-shaped computer desk that will last a long time?
I don't mind wood grain as I am only going to stain and gloss the wood afterwards so the grainier the better..xD But in all seriousness I am looking for cheap but sturdy wood to use for a pretty large L-shaped desk. What would you all suggest?

3/4 plywood with one finished side (up). Still might need a support at the "L" depending on your mounting to the wall or free standing and size overall.

You can buy a 4'x8' piece of 3/4" thick plywood with one or both smooth sides. Normally comes rough on both sides used for roofing, underlayment on floors, etc. But in your case, you want at least the top to be smooth. I used cabinet grade birch for a similar project. I believe you can also find this in oak and maybe pine. About $30.> a sheet.

Well it depends on how light and hard your desk want to be. I suggest you ask directly to a supplier to give you options on what is the best depending on your personal preference. Good luck.

Not really sure, depends more on the look and feel you want for the desk. Peterman Lumber carries a large selection of wood and is open to the public and they ship. You might want to contact them and check out their website for more suggestions on questions about quality and style of different wood.
