Types of Leather Belt Buckles
There are many different types of leather belt buckles. These types of buckles typically display some sort of design and integrate leather on top of a metal base in order to increase the overall appeal of the accessory.
The functionality of buckles for the belt is to allow a wearer to adjust and then close the belt that surrounds the waist. Typically, these items are held closed by a single mechanism or possibly two locking mechanisms.
While most are composed of a type of metal or possibly even plastic, several brands on the market today also integrate leather in order to enhance the decorative appeal of the clothing that is being worn.
In most instances, leather belt buckles will be identified as "Tang", "Snap", or "Clip". The "Tang" buckle typically has one base ring composed of metal and two side flaps that are hinged. This is the most common when it comes to leather belts.
This is also considered to be the most secure of all belt buckles. The "Snap" buckle utilizes two distinct pieces to connect to either side of the belt being worn.
The "Clip" models simply slide and fit snugly on the opposite belt end. If you are in the market for leather belt buckles, it is important to know the types available so that you may choose the one that is most appropriate for your needs.
