Many individuals are interested in learning how to create a realistic life drawing. If you want to learn how to create realistic drawings that truly reflect the essence of life, it is important to first know what your strengths are and what your weaknesses are when it comes to your drawing capability.

Once you identify your strengths and weaknesses in drawing, it is important to choose a picture that you may be able to use as a reference in order to practice on. It is important to choose a picture that does not contain elements that are too difficult for you such as those that incorporate the use of a lot of shadow and those that have challenging details that are often difficult. It may take a little time to find that right picture to use as your reference, but once you did, you will be pleased that you are able to identify artwork that is easy for you to work with.

When practicing with a resource picture, it is important to focus on proper proportioning when attempting to complete a life drawing. It is important to study up on concepts such as shading, the proper composition of lines, and drawing various components of the face. Examples include the eyes, the mouth, the nose, the ears, and the natural shades that occur on a person's face.
