Today's Discussion

What is the easier wine opener with the least noise?
I am looking into purchasing a new wine opener for use in a food service setting in front of guests. I need something that will allow me to hold the bottle while uncorking it, and it can't make a lot of noise. I do not prefer the standard waiter's corkscrew. I have looked at c02 wine openers such as the Cork Pops Legacy, I have also looked at electric wine openers such as the Emerson Electric Wine Opener B060 along with lever wine openers such as the Metrokane Houdini Vertical Corkscrew or the Vertical Rabbit. Some others that I saw that looked promising are the Quirky Brand Verseur Multi-function full bottle service wine opener and something made by Metrokane that looks similar to that, along with the OXO Corkpulll. Has anyone had any positive or negative experiences with these, specifically in regards to the amount of noise they make and the ability to hold the bottle while using the wine opener? Please let me know, and if there is another product which you recommend please let me know about that also. In the environment in which I work, it is my choice as to what to use. I know how to use a standard corkscrew without making it pop. I'm not asking how to use the standard waiter's corkscrew, just if anyone has had any experience with those listed and regarding the c02 one in particular, if it pops during opening, along with the electric one, if it makes a lot of noise.

You're supposed to use a standard double hinged corkscrew. If by noise you mean the popping sound when the cork comes out then you're doing it wrong.Just before the cork comes out you are to wrap your hand around the top of the bottle and the cork. A simple twist of your wrist will release the cork without popping it.
