Mini Food Processors - What to Look for in Today's Market

mini food processors

Mini food processors make every aspect of cooking simple and fast. You can cut, chop, and grind to make meal prep much faster and easier on your hands.

You can even use some small processors to create your own salad dressings and sauces.

There are many different varieties currently on the market, but the following guidelines should help you select a good one for your kitchen.

Size

Of course, a mini food processor is going to be smaller than a full sized machine, but consider what you will be using your machine for on a consistent basis and determine an adequate cup size.

There are some very small processors with 1 to 1.5 cup collection containers and larger processors with 3 and 4 cup collection containers.

Power

The smaller your processor is, the less power it is likely to have and the less food you will be able to process at one time. If you are going to be using your machine frequently, it may last longer if you go with something with a bit more wattage.

Style

You should have no problem finding a processor that fits your kitchen décor. There are mini food processors to fit literally every kitchen, with styles ranging from simple black and white to sterling silver and even pink!

What do you use your mini food processor for?
I just ordered a Kitchen Aid mini food processor. For those of you that already have one, what do you use it for?

my fiance can't chew very well because of jaw problems, so i use it to cut the hard to chew vegetables really fine for almost all meals i cook...and its good for making fruit purees.

I have one, I think mine is Black and Decker. It is good for small or annoying jobs. I have since gotten a blender with a food processor attachment. I don't love it but it is bigger. SO I don't always use the mini anymore. Most times, honestly, I just use my chef knife and do things by hand. It helps me get my skills up, and I find it pretty easy to do instead of dragging out a machine. I still use the mini for single batch of hummus with a single can of garbanzos, and black bean dip with a single can of beans. I also have used it for onions and jalapenos when I don't want to chop them myself, for pico de gallo and other dishes because I want them to be done as hands free as possible. You can do a surprising amount of herbs, pesto, salad dressing, garlic, as all these kind of mash down to nothing from a big heap. Just pack it all in there and let it go. Mine also has a feed tube where the stuff goes over a blade at the top and then collects in the bowl below. I haven't used that, this is mostly the type stuff I do by hand. I bet it would be ideal for homemade baby food! Just the perfect size.

Salt: can't live with or without it
Montreal Gazette
High-salt processed food made headlines two years ago, then faded. I'd assumed that Ottawa, responding to pressure, was now insisting that food processors sharply lower their salt (sodium) levels. Wrong assumption. This is an important issue.
