Buying new oil burner parts can be tricky for anyone who doesn't know much about them.

I was exactly the same when the heating in my house decided to break down on me during a cold spell.

Before that I had never really thought about what went on inside my oil burner, and I didn't have a clue what to do when it broke down.

I did get someone in to take a look at it who recommended a new fuel nozzle and it totally baffled me.

I had no idea how much one should cost or how easy it would be to fit one.

This meant I ended up paying more money than I should have done for it replacing it.

Now I would tell anyone who needs new parts for their oil burner to do a little research on prices first, so you have an idea on what you should be paying.

Or better still, buy the part yourself and get a professional to fit it for you.

That way you are only paying for the installation of it. Follow this advice and don't get tricked into paying more than you need to for oil burner parts.

How to drain the expansion tank, on an oil burner, when it has no drain valve?
I have an oil burner and the pressure relief valve is leaking. I went to check the PSI in the expansion tank but when I use the tire gage water came out the air valve. How would I drain the tank? Or what else can I do?

There shoud be one, or at least a plug. If the plug is there, prepare for a mess and take out the plug, and have the parts ready to replace it with a proper drain valve with hose threads, so you can neatly drain the unit.

when the tank is turned off all the water will come out the bottom ,after it is drained put back on and then replace the relief valve and the job is done .you may have to run the burner in order to get the pressure check
