Today's Discussion

What type of activities can i do with my 6mth old son?
I'm currently a stay at home Mom and he seems to be getting quite bored of his exersaucer and play mat. He has lots of floor toys but he loses interest in them pretty fast. The only thing that he seems to really enjoy is his Johnny Jump up, i think because he can jump continuously without help. Now that the weather is getting warmer I'm open to different outdoor activities too! Thanks for your input!

depending on where you live going to a zoo could be fun, but at that age they cant do much on there own. my daughter always loved me playing with her, singing songs or bouncing her myself, she also liked playing in a pool out side with me. books are also great at that age if they are ones you can get really animated with.

My 3 month old loves his Baby Einstein movies. You could try those. Read to him, he might not understand it, but it helps his brain develop. You can take him swimming if there's an indoor pool near you. Let him play on his belly so he can learn how to maneuver and crawl. Get on his level and play and talk to him. Give him a bath just for fun, if he likes baths. Talk to him as much as possible. My little boy will coo and "talk" for 3-5 minutes straight when I talk to him eye to eye. It's so fun!

Use pudding as paint.Wayy fun and you don't have to worry about him putting it in his mouth.Great sensory activity. At this age I would take my pots and pans and fill them with water and let my daughter splash in the water and watch the toys that sink, squirt and float. Dance and music is fun. One of those balls that light up and move across the floor.I think there is also a dog that walks around too, that he may like to watch and who knows, may go after. Things that crinkle like wrapping paper, foil, newspaper, coffee can with dry beans or dried rice added. Bubbles are always a hit,in or out. Balls of any kind but especially ones with things that float inside. My daughter had a blow up lion, just that height as she stand while I helped. She would try and kick it and suck on it.You couldn't push it over because it had water in the bottom.Came from target. Mirrors are fun. They now make markers for windows,so you can draw silly faces for him in the home mirror. Beat on drums.Ummm I am trying to still remember. Different textures to touch, like a fuzzy scarf or some silk scarfs tied together and shoved into a wipes container. You can let him have fun pulling it all out. Oh and read, read read!Very important now even if he doesn't seem too interested,he is soaking it all up. I too am a SAHM and enjoy being home with my 2 crazy, fun kids:) Hope I've helped.

My daughter is also 6 months old. She likes to play on the floor with a bunch of toys around her, helps with her pre-crawling stage. She tends to just roll over repeatedly to get what she wants, but it gets her moving! :) We also like to take walks around the house, sometimes in the baby bjorn. She likes to look in the mirror, and I let her touch some things like an canvas painting and some pictures so she can see the different textured. She enjoys the change of scenery. The libraries have activities for 6 month olds too, story time and music. I plan on doing those things.

I wondered that while i'm still pregant. Hmmm..... there are lot of fun things. Go to a play area for kids and have fun. Or go to the park and take him out for a stoll! all 6 mouth old babies love the outside! :) HAVE FUN!
