Many individuals are starting to find that pasta gift baskets are a wonderful expression of warmth and consideration.

In today's world, it is often challenging to discover the "perfect" gift for someone that you care about, or someone that deserves a thoughtful gift for performing professionally or being a good neighbor.

This is why many are now starting to lean towards giving the gift of a gift basket. While not the most personal of all gifts, it is considered to be a highly flexible gift when it comes to personalization.

If you know someone that enjoys exquisite dining or pasta in general, a pasta themed gift basket will be the perfect gift!

When choosing a pasta gift basket, you will find that there are many different components that may be used to accessorize the gift. For one, there are typically many different types of pasta noodles included in such a basket.

It is also common for several different sauces to be included in the arrangement. These include cheese sauces, tomato sauces, and even vodka sauces.

It is not at all uncommon to discover other accessories in the basket such as recipes, special utensils, and even decorative cloths. If you want to give a unique but enjoyable gift basket, you will find that pasta gift baskets are among the best!

Today's Discussion

dear chefs: should i use extra virgin olive oil with my gourmet pasta or regular olive oil?
I'm making a gift basket to go along with a premium, gourmet pasta that i am giving away. I want to include some olive oil. What kind of olive oil should I use? I need it to be healthy, and "premium," not wal-mart or target brand. What is the best olive oil to buy that will make my pasta look even better than it is?

I've tried both, and several different brands, and I can't tell any difference.

I love a good extra virgin. That's what I would go for. EVOO (extra virgin olive oil) is cleaner & more crisp on the palate, & it'll have more of a botanical armoma & a fruiter flavour than regualr olive oil. Olive oil experts treat tasting EVOO like somiliers do with tasting wine. The EVOO comes from the cold press (pressed from raw olives) regular olive oil comes after the cold press & the olives are heated up to release more oil, & this is a lower quality. As for the health aspects, with olive oil, non is healthyer than another. For example, Light olive oil means it's light in colour or flavour, it has nothing to do with the fat content or healthyness of the oil.

Extra virgin for sure. My niece is Italian her mother being born in Italy told me that the greener the oil the better it is. You can buy a good oil at Walmart, just don't buy the cheapest

If you are making a gift basket , don't just make it plain evoo . Get some infused oil with garlic or rosemary . You know the ones with these things in the bottle . I t will look more aesthetic in the basket and the flavor for the user will be incredible . Remember it's valentines .

If you're looking to put olive oil in a gift basket, go to a specialty Italian store. They've got much better selection than a grocery store. I agree with the idea of getting an infused oil, as the people you're giving it to may already have good olive oil. My recommendation would be for a black truffle infused olive oil.

As far as I'm concerned you shouldn't ever use anything but extra virgin for anything.

Extra virgin olive oil. Go to a gourmet/specialty foods store for your purchase. Or even a natural foods store such as Whole Foods or your local one should supply some nice fruity EVOO's.
