Is the police salary figures before or after tax?
I have been looking at police salaries online (UK) and I'm curious to know if the figures are before or after tax. EG is says for a chief inspector can expect to start at around £54,000, is that already taxed? And if not how much would it likely turn out as. Thanks:-)

Salaries and hourly wages are always quoted "before tax" because each person's tax liability situation is different. They don't know how many dependency exemptions (kids) you have, whether you itemize or use the standard deduction, etc.

Salaries are always quoted before tax, as not everyone has the same tax liability how much it turns out as depends on your own tax code and your own personal circumstances
