How might I pursue this kind of career?
I'm thinking of pursuing a career in art as a cartoonist. What I would really love to do is market at least one of my original cartoons and have it merchandised towards the public in many ways, such as on clothes, stickers, backpacks, posters and television shows. Just like famous cartoons, such as Popeye, Mickey Mouse and Hello Kitty, how might I want to pursue a career in marketing my OWN cartoons? Do you know if a certain educational degree or certification is required? If anyone knows, thanks for all of your help!! I really appreciate it!! :)

I would double major in fine arts and computer graphics. A lot of animation and even cartoon/mangas are going digital. Also, start to network yourself EARLY so that you know the people in the industry especially after you graduate from college. If you can find a way to volunteer your time to a company that is into this type of industry, go for it. It will show people your enthusiasm and seriousness of entering this competitive field. Good luck! p.s. research and find a UNIVERSITY that has a good fine arts and computer graphics program. Go as far in your degree as possible. Please do not go to sh*t "schools like the ones you see on tv (ITT Tech, etc). They will tell you anything you want to hear and will virtually steal your money.
