Portable crib or a pack and play at work?
I work with our family business and am planning on going back to work 3-4 weeks after the baby is born. (Due in Jan) Since I am able to bring the baby with me I need to know what the best product to use would be: A portable crib, or a pack and play with a changing table and bassinet? We are limited on space and it would be nice to fold it up when I'm not there, but it has to be comfortable and sturdy too. Any suggestions and explanations would be very helpful! Thanks in advance!

Lucky you!! Being able to bring your baby to work......that's great!! A pack and play I think would work great - they're so easy to move and don't take up too much space......have fun!!

I got my son the pack and play! IT'S THE BEST!!! Because they can grow into it and then soon play in it as well as take naps. Good luck and congrats!

I love the pack and play w/ the bassinet, it's stable and you can take the bassinet part out as the baby grows, plus it still gives them room to play. How long are you going to be at work a day though? Just imagine you are unable to do anything else but sit there or try to learn to move and someone leaves you in a bed all day. That would suck. Kids, even babies, need changes in environment, swing, crib, floor to play, bouncy chair, etc.

I would use the pack and play. That's what I used. Once the baby is too big for a protable crib/bassinet, then you'll need to get a pack and play anyway. just save the money and get a pack and play now. Besides, baby's can sleep anywhere. I used to be able to hang mine upside down and he would be out!

A pack and play with a extra mattress that you can buy at toy's r us is what I would get but you won't need the extra mattress for a few months when the baby gets to big for the bassinet.

I would say the Pack and Play, when mine were young I loved it. You can take it to parks and other places too. However, I would wait until your baby was 6 weeks old to go back to work only because they are so fragile and could get sick very easily. Congrats

The pack and play is wonderful! I used it with my son as a bassinett and everytime we traveled, we took it with us. The best thing about it is is has the changing table, AND the an insert where the you don't have to put the baby in the VERY BOTTOM of it. There is a piece that goes in, so the baby is only half way down(bassinett level, which is higher) This helps your back inmensely. Once you are used to it, you can set it up and take it down very quick!!

I also work for family, and was able to do that when I had my baby. We had a pack n play with the changing table, it was very helpful, and my daughter was plenty comfortable in it. She was 7 weeks old when I returned to work. BTW - in response to the answer that said kids need more to do than sit in a bed all day - I had one of the little Fisher Price take-along swings that I used at work when my daughter was a bit older. Nice cuz it's small and folds up when not in use, and easy to tote around.
