Portable cribs.....................?
Hi. I had asked this question a few days ago but it got deleted because somebody obviously had nothing else to do than to report people for no reason. I got NO explanation in my email either. Anyway, I was wondering if anyone had ideas on weight limits for portable and compact cribs would be? Would they be like a normal crib or would it be less? Someone told me to look on amazon.com under their details but I saw nothing. Any ideas?

I would put the limit around 50 pounds or so. My sister had her two year old in one(they did not have a crib while moving). It stood up pretty well but I would not let any child older or bigger than that stay in it.

That person was on the right track. Any item you are looking at should have a weight limit. If it doesn't you can call the manufacturer and find out. I know that wal-mart does for some of its items.

I logged onto babiesrus.com and read up on a few of the play yards and they say a minimum of 6 lbs and maximum of 30 lbs. My son is just about 30 lbs and we still use ours for vacations and things. I would say up to 40 lbs is probably a safe weight but after that the child should be old enough to be in a bigger bed anyway. Hope this helps.

I would try looking on a couple of these sites babies r us, walmart, and also target. when you go to the websites just type in portable crib, or mini crib. I am also looking into getting a portable crib for my son who will be here in 9 weeks or less! yay! I know most of the ones on those sites I suggested say birth-24 months.

I have the Summer Infant Natures Purest one, according to the warnings written right on the play yard, the bassinet holds up to 15 pounds and the crib itself holds up to 30 inches in height and/or 35 pounds. The change table claims to hold up to 25 pounds. My daughter is 30 inches now and 22 pounds and (to me) looks like she can still go for a good bit in the crib (although she does attempt to climb out- unsuccessfully) and change table (obviously the bassinet is out of the question at this point). I'm guessing when she's able to actually make it over the side, we'll be packing it up for good. Any good portable crib to today's standards should have weight/height restrictions written right on them.
