Positive attitude?
I'm just wondering if anyone has any advice about keeping a positive attitude even when things aren't going well as a parent. I'm a stay at home mom with a two and a half year old and a nine month old and I find it so easy to get really discouraged and feel like I'm doing a lousy job. So often if we all have a good night's sleep, I feel like I could conquer the world and everything makes sense. Unfortunatley, that doesn't happen very often and we're tired and I feel discouraged. Any positive feedback would be appreciated. Thanks.

This is pretty normal. Everything looks better with a good nights sleep and vice versa. I have found that sometimes you just have to bite your tongue and smile, or have a mommy time out. Find other moms who you can get out with, go to the park, or have coffee breaks with.

Welcome to parenthood!! My best advise is to visualize my child smiling / sleeping / or saying "I Love You". I raised all three of my kids by myself and believe me there were lotttttts of negative times. Looking back, I smile with pride when I hear my kids (expecially my sons, since no dad was around) say "yeah, my mom taught me .... ". The never doubted they were loved and their wonderful little smiles would get me through anything. Good Luck and God Bless.

how do you feel out your day? i mean if your doing the same thing over and over. then, maybe this is why you feel so discouraged. raising kids is probably one the hardest things to have a high spirit on. i help my sister with her kids and man is it a job.

Been there, going through that. I have four kids of my own ranging from 2 months to 7 years old. All I can say is that when you realize that you are not alone, and alot of stay at home mom's feel the same way - it may help you relax. If you're married, you need to use your husband as an outlet and let him know how you feel. Find a mommy and me group and let them too know how you feel. I think just being able to talk about how you are feeling takes off alot of pressure and helps you relax. It can energize you for the next day. Being a stay at home mom is a hard job. And I think that just talking with other moms about how you feel will make a huge difference in how you tackle the worlds greatest job - being a mom. Good Luck!

I am a Mom of 4 who stays home- I feel your pain! lol. It is often discouraging and exhausting and many other things being home all day and night with no adult conversation. Try getting out of the house. A walk at the local park would get you some fresh air. Exercise always makes me feel less tired and you are bound to meet other moms- not to mention wearing those little ones out so you can all have a nap or an early bedtime. There are plenty of days the dishes don't get done or you can't even manage to get a shower until the husband gets home. Don't forget you are an adult and a woman. People don't realize being a stay at home mom is a 24 hr job, you can't call in or take off. If it's 5:30 and the baby has a poopy diaper you can't say -oh, it's after five I am off work. You have to make some time for yourself. How about a local YMCA- they have gyms and daycare available- they also will help with membership fees if you need it. Try to sneak in a bubble bath or an hour away when your husband gets home. I am sure you are a great mom- if you are staying at home all day instead of working when you don't have to you are obviously devoted to your children. Things will get better. Good Luck
