Has anyone tried those potty training dolls?
If so, how did the dolls work for you? My daughter has been showing quite a few potty training readiness signs lately so I'm hoping to start this week. But she is scared to sit on both her potty and the actual toilet. And no, I have not been forcing her on it. If she shows fear, I back off and try again a few days later. She absolutely loves her baby dolls so I'm hoping seeing one of her dolls pee on the potty will give her the courage to go on herself. Which one did you get and would you recommend it?

My son has one called something like Twinkles or Tinkles. It is anatomically correct, and there are both a boy and girl version. My son loves it! He absolutely loves feeding the doll, then taking off his clothes and making him use the potty. It definitely encourages him to use the potty just like his doll. Alone, it's definitely not going to potty train your daughter, but it's a good part of the process of showing her the whole idea. My son likes to look at the 'pee' in the doll's potty, so it gives him a sense of what is supposed to happen. They sell it at Babies R Us and also online.

One strategy that Ms. Kunz says works well for a strong-willed child is to get a doll that drinks and pees water. Suggest that the child be the mommy or daddy and teach the “baby” to use the potty. Then it's not so much you controlling them.
