Depands on the car. The one on my 88 fleetwood is broke off & i cant find one in the junkyard that ISNT broken. so i guess i have to order it from the dealer or get an aftermarket replacement. I do know it involves removing the fender if its near the hood. Or if its in the trunk you might be able to pull the carpet stuff (liner) & unbolt it from there. But either way its a pain to deal with.

your parts house should have a universal one to fit if you dont buy a oem one

Check on a shop that sells car audio stuff, they might have what you are looking for. Depends on the vehicle is easy or hard to do. Also, how expensive it will be. Give a shot at the junk yard if you get lucky. Some cars of the same company shares the same stuff, but not all. Is a long shot when you go to a junk yard for parts.

the best thing my friend is to use the salvage yards. Especially, if your bhind the wheel of a luxury auto.

you can get a universal one from any parts store or J.C. Whitney sells them.

Usually there is a nut at the base of the antenna. If you remove that, and hit the up switch or turn the radio on, depending on your setup, the antenna will come all the way up and you can just pull it and the drive cable right out. Feed the new antenna's drive cable down in until it stops, and then hit down or turn off the radio. This will suck the drive and the antenna down until it stops, then reinstall the nut. Most replacement antennas have detailed instructions, but as long as the drive cable is not broken, it is an easy job. If it is broken, then the motor has to come out to remove the broken part of the drive, not real hard, but much more so than just a swap of antennas.
