Is it illegal by law to be trained and operate power equipment under the age of 18 in a retail store in Canada?
Hello, I'm working as a truck receiver in a retail store, and we have pallet truck machines there that aren't supposed to be used by people who aren't trained for them. Now I know it's law that people must be trained to use them, but the management is telling me that it is illegal by the Ministry of Labour for anyone under 18 to attend the training course. I have looked for it and can't seem to find any evidence, so I don't think that they are right. Using the power equipment would make my life easier, so I'm trying to appeal to them and let me take the training course, but first I need evidence that I, being 16, would be allowed to use pallet trucks (NOT ride on forklifts, just electric pump trucks). So if anyone has sources stating so it would be greatly appreciated!
