How to check 1995 corolla power window switch wiring?
I think its getting too much power. My driver side window will not roll back up due to a burning of wires in the actual power switch panel thing. I bought a new 1 and replaced it thinking it would fix it, but all it did is burn that one out too. Everything works besides the driver side window. What do i do? How do i figure out what's wrong? I'm thinking something is just not connected right or something, but it burns the switches out, and they aren't cheap. so please help :/

If it were any window but the drivers I would suspect a short where the wire enters the door, by the hinge. But if it gets to the switch, then it can't be that. So the only thing left is a tear in the rubber insulation of the wire somewhere inside the door, or the motor itself is jammed and shorting. The best thing to do is to pull the wire off the motor and try to power the motor directly. You can use a 12 transformer, jumper wires off the cigarette lighter, etc. Check both polarity directions. If the motor does not turn or the wires begin to warm, stop immediately. Then you have a seized motor that is drawing too much. If the motor works, then it is probably the wiring, and you can get the door harness from a salvage yard for practically nothing.
