I have lit candles at a shrine that were supposed to stay lit for a week. I wouldn't do it at my home though...too dangerous.

I'm pretty sure that the ones in churches are kept burning 24 hours a day, but I wouldn't recommend doing this in your own home.

i think that is a fire hazard. candles should only be burning when they are supervised.

No. Candles are not commanded or even spoken of in the Bible in association with prayers. That is man's thinking. The closest thing to it is incense that is in the Holy Place in the Tabernacle which was to represent the prayers to God, but today, we have the privilege to speak with God. Candles mean nothing.

I would burn them once a day and blow them out when you leave. Untended fire is a dangerous thing. My local grocery store has 7-day candles for this purpose (why I don't know, but they're pretty cool). They're in a glass container, marked with notches for each day. So you would light it, let it burn down to the line for that day, blow it out, and repeat the process the next day. :)
