Well, you HAVE to split the signal. You could try using a standard "Y" RCA cable splitter available at Radio Shack for a few bucks. The general rule of thumb is that this will degrade the quality somewhat - but the questions is will it be noticeable. If this is for a car, then don't worry about it. The road noise will overpower any distortion you create.
