well pump shuts off with out the pressure switch?
i have a real riddle i have 2 water pumps 2 pressure tanks both work different problems ( ive replaced the pressure switch, pressure gauge, all the wiring and pipes) both pumps are the submergable types. we have been having pressure problems so went through the steps of fixing it ended up with 2 of everything but different problems. 1) with one pump hooked up it consentally runs the switch will not shut it off ( switch is good) and will not fill up the pressure tank with water to abtain the pressure it needs to engadge the pressure switch to turn off. 2) we got all new stuff replaced everything now the pump will kick on and right back off not running but couple seconds but when shuts off you can hear the water drain out the tank (check valve new). me and my dad has been working on this couple days and can not figure out what is wrong. we hook everything back up the way it was and pump runs wont shut off and no pressure put all new stuff and the pump will not run someone please help us(we have contacted suppose to be plumbers and they cant figure it out ether) so now trying figure it out

Sounds like you first pump is not working for what ever reason, if the pump has a foot check in it, it could be stuck not allowing water flow on the other hand you could have a bad pump, if you have an Amp Probe you could check the current or amperage to the motor if the amperage is high the pump may be turning slow and basically not pumping water. On your second pump, seeing you said you changed everything including the check valve, could your check valve be installed backward. It is sometimes very hard to determine solutions when you do not necessarily have all the right info but you may find the site I have listed with 2 different scenarios of submerged wells. Good Luck

Sounds like to me that the impeller has broken loose from pump motor shaft and just free spinning. This answers all your questions i think. Good luck

Sounds like your check valve(s) is installed upside down. There should be an arrow on the side of it showing the direction of flow.
