Doing A Rare Book Search Online

rare book search

One great reason for doing a rare book search online is that your chances of finding rare or out of print books locally in your city or town, or even when travelling, are very slim.

However, when you use an internet search engine such as Google, Yahoo, or Bing, you are essentially searching thousands upon thousands of bookstores with just a few strokes on the keyboard or a couple of clicks with your mouse. There are also special search engines that are dedicated especially for doing a rare book search.

Large volume online bookstores such as Amazon, also carry an extensive collection of rare and used books with new inventory being added every day. You may want to bookmark as many of these locations as you can so that you will be able to find them quickly and search them as frequently as possible.

With many people struggling in today's economy, the frequency in which collectibles including rare books popping up for sale on the internet has dramatically increased. Your chances of finding a rare or out of print book online at an affordable price through a rare book search online are now significantly greater.

Today's Discussion

Where can I find information on rare books that can not be found on the well-known book search engines?
I have tried the known searches, amazon, bookfinder, addall, tomfolio, abe, etc. My google & yahoo searches ahve not turned up the information either. Are ways to find lists of books published by certain authors or publishers during the 18th & 19th centuries?

In my experience, well known bookstores have gotten the information. If they didn't have it, they would find it! Give one or two a call.
