Today's Discussion

Fess up, do you ever thumbs up or down based on the poster's religious affiliation or lack thereof?
Ever give someone a thumbs down even if their answer is intelligent, and well-researched just because you don't agree with them in matters of belief? Or conversely do you give them thumbs up just because you share the same belief even though their answer was not so good?

Jeff- BA, MMin, follows Jesus
No. But I do give a thumbs down if their answer has no basis or is attacking. Occasionally I have even given thumbs up to Atheists...if they are at least respectful or fair.

supertop
No; my thumbs up or down are based solely on the content of the answer.

yesmar
Nope, I never give a thumbs down. I will give a thumbs up if the answer is interesting or intelligent though. Thanks for asking.

The Truth Fairy 2
I've given a few theists thumbs up because they backed up their claims well, and claimed they didn't know everything they had faith and believed. I hate it when people claim they KNOW something when they don't.

Kenshin Himura
No.

lainiebsky
Not that I recall. If there's a well-written answer that I think is totally wrong I just don't rate it. Same thing if there's a rude answer on the side that I agree with.

Ms. Taurus
Generally no. Thumbs up go to the answers I really like (or enjoy). Down only to those who are hateful, judging, toll-like, or the "omg of course my views are right, why can't they get it through their heads" types.

Angel
No, that's silly. I vote based on their intelligence or lack of.

zeitgeist
Good question! If the "thumbs down" is not used, then what is it's purpose? I occasionally use it for lame answers, where the only objective is to launch an attack against another. Usually, I just ignore them.

The Tsunami Swami
No. I only give thumbs down if they're slandering other groups or members for no apparent reason, or the person in question is an obvious troll.

Fern
I don't give thumbs down for a person's belief systems. That is part of who they are and I don't condone putting someone down when they are simply being who they are. I have been known to thumbs down people who are rude, ignorant, or intolerant of others. Those are things I just think are wrong. Its possible to answer a question and be civil to the asker even if you don't believe what they are saying. If an answer is rash and misinformed I will thumbs down from time to time. If a person is honest and courteous then there is no reason to thumbs down that type of honesty.

The Walkin' Dude
Nah. I thumb down the ones I find stupid. Smart ones up and funny ones too.

Zero Cool
No, I have not. An unbiased opinion is the best way to judge the work of others. I try my best to remain unbiased.

Darwin
I give a thumbs-up when the respondent sufficiently answers the question.
