Transport Your Dog with a Small Dog Crate

One of the hassles of traveling with your dog is that he refuses to settle in the boot of the car, and this is where a small dog crate can prove invaluable.

One of the things you need to remember is that in the event of a crash, if unrestrained your pet becomes a missile and can be thrown at another occupant of the car and injure them badly and worse could be killed if he hits the window screen.

One of the best ways to travel with your pet is to put him in the trunk or back seat inside a small dog crate.

You need to make sure that the crate is big enough for your pet to sit, lay and turn around comfortably, and when you are going on a longer journey it is worth littering the crate with toys and chews to help keep him amused.

The smaller crates are ideal for the toy breeds of dog. Whether you have a terrier or Jack Russell you will find that this is ideal for your needs.

Have a look on a reputable site such as Amazon where you will find a small dog crate and lots more besides!

Yorkies bark a lot. Be sure and take the dog out often, please. Can you just baby gate off like the kitchen area maybe or someplace that had linoleum until you can get a crate? Dont leave the dog in there a long time and have it use the bathroom on itself, that is cruel

Walmart has small plastic crates. They cost about $20. The wire ones are more. Garage sales and thrift stores might have a crate for $5-10. As your dog is going to stay small, get a crate that will be suitable for her when she is full grown. One for a 10lb dog will work. If you go too big, she will use part of it to potty and it will make house breaking harder.

I googled "small dog crate for sale" and came up with a bunch of links. I only checked the one below but on it, the Imperial small crate was priced at $39.99. Check around the different sites and compare prices, I'm sure you will be able to find something affordable.

Try Craigslist.com. You can post on the pet section or the wanted section for a used one. Also, you can try garage sales. I do hope this dog is not only just living in your room vs. being a companion for the entire family.

Don't keep her confined to one room. That's just cruel. And if you are going to crate her, please get an appropriately sized wire type crate with a solid bottom. The plastic ones are for transporting only and don't have enough ventilation for a dog to live in them. Wal Mart has ok prices, and I bet if you search your classifieds or craigslist you'll find some used ones. (Make sure it is in perfect shape, though.)

Look on craigslist.com
