A Place to Keep Your Wine

Having a lot of wine is one thing, but having a place to keep your wine is quite another. Have you ever considered what you are going to do with your bottled treasures? You might want to consider getting some wine storage units.

If you don't have a wine cellar then there are plenty of wine storage units that you can purchase. They are all quite different from one another.

For example one might simply be what appears to be a wooden amour and another could be a wooden case with a glass door.

You will also find that there are different designs available and it might actually be possible for you to have one designed custom.

Note that a custom design will cost more, but it will go along quite nicely with the rest of your house or establishment. You be able to purchase metal wine storage units which might go along quite nicely with a modern setting. There are many different possibilities, so make sure that you investigate all of them before you make a final decision.

What type of wine cooler/storage unit is best?
Does it matter if the cooler/storage unit for wine is thermoelectric cooling with no fan either or compressor cooling ? Also do they not basiclly all do the same job as there is a big difference in prices,In Spain Carrefour has a Bluesky 35bottle unit (thermoelectric for 149euro ) but you can pay 499euro for a bosch ,ok its larger but still its alot of money . Any advice welcome .

you only need a cooler for white wine if it is red room temp and to be honest your fridge will do the job well just put it on a low shelf

If you are storing wine for a long time, it isn't necessary to purchase a wine storage unit, but it is recommended. The unit will keep the humidity at the right level to keep the corks from drying out or getting moldy. Look for one that has temperature and humidity control, as that is the most important thing. Most people's basements fit the right conditions for cellaring wine (around 55 degrees and 60% relative humidity), so there is no need for a storage unit. Just be sure to store the bottles on their side so the corks do not dry out. Whites should only be chilled down right before they are drank, as tartar crystals can form on the cork if they are left cold for too long. The only reason I have a wine chiller/storage unit is because I cellar barolo's and bordeaux's which cost upwards of $100 and I age them for 10-15 years. I want to protect my investments and do not want to chance the bottles going bad.
